The village is one of five that lie on the road that runs between Brigg & the River Humber. The five villages, collectively known as the "Low Villages" as they are located along the foot of the North Lincolnshire Wolds are Worlaby, Bonby, Saxby-all-Saints, Horkstow & South Ferriby. Saxby-all-Saints hasn't changed much through the years & comprises of many interesting buildings including the Church of All Saints, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1845.

The Location -   three miles south of the river humber, 5miles south-west from Barton -on-Humber on the westside of the wolds.

    The Place-name & its Origins
The Doomsday Book (1086) referred to the village as "Saxebi".

Other names - for the village include "Saxbi".

The name - can be translated to 'Saxi's farmstead or village'. All Saints is from the dedication of the parish church.

     The Church of All Saints
The Church of All Saints, rebuilt between 1845 and1849, is a beautiful edifice in the Early Decorated style, from designs by the late Sir G Gilbert Scott R.A. consisting of chancel, nave, north aisle, south porch and an embattled tower on the south side with low spire and four pinnacles added in 1873, and containing 3 bells: a vestry was added on the north side in 1880: there are ten stained glass windows; the East window being the gift of Mrs Barton, sen. Who also rebuilt the chancel: the organ was presented in 1871 by the Rev. Charles Warren Markham M.A. rector, 1866-85: some of the church plate dates from the 16th century, and there is also a handsome service given by the late James Robert Hope Scott esq. Q.C.: in 1893 a clock was placed in the tower by the parishioners to commemorate the coming of age of Henry John Hope Barton esq.: there are 226 sittings. The register dates from the year 1719....[entry from Kelly's Trade Directory for 1900]
